Holiday Gift Guide: Theatre Kid Edition!

The holiday season is upon us, and finding the perfect gifts for your loved one, however enjoyable and fullfilling can be stressful! If you have a theatre kid in your life, you might be struggling with what to give them - Our holiday gift guide contains plenty of options to make sure your gift is well-received!

Tickets to a Show

Tickets to a local play or musical can make an excellent gift! Although this is not a physical item, the experience of seeing live theatre is unlike anything else; your loved one will remember it for years to come. If you’d like to give a physical item, consider having your tickets mailed so you can provide your theatre lover with their ticket before the show - these make great souvenirs as well!

There are several holiday-themed shows in Toronto and the GTA this year! Consider the following options:

Here are some more shows your musical theatre kid might enjoy:

Broadway Merch

If the theatre kid in your life is obsessed with a specific show, they might enjoy getting some physical items from the show’s merch collection. Several shows sell the same merchandise from the theatre on their website. Check out some of our favourite merch items below!

The Playbill Store is another great place to purchase merchandise from various shows all in one place.

Playbills

Playbill is a magazine that supplies program booklets to shows on Broadway and across the US. Many theatre kids love to collect these since they not only serve as mementos of the shows they’ve seen, but they include interesting articles and other cool things inside. If the theatre kid in your life has not had the chance to visit Broadway, they may be eager to get their hands on one of these booklets! You can find Playbills for sale on Ebay and other marketplace websites. Additionally, the Playbill Store sells limited edition versions of several Playbills, as well as binders and display options. Check out some cool options below:

Musical Cast Recordings

You may already know that many musicals have recordings of their songs as albums on streaming platforms, but did you know that many of them are released on CD and vinyl formats? Having a physical copy of a cast recording is a great gift idea, since it allows the recipient to listen to it in a new way, or display it! Many of these physical copies feature full colour images of the show, lyric booklets, and other fun surprises. Check out some of our favourites below!

You can purchase these albums online on a show’s website, on the record label’s website, and on Amazon, among other retailers. Sometimes, you can find these at local record stores as well! This is a great way to purchase a musical theatre gift and also support local businesses, which we always encourage during this time of year!

Innovative Arts Merchandise

Although we might be biased, we think our own merchandise is pretty cool! Many of our students have received them as gifts in the past, so if the theatre kid in your life is one of our students, they might enjoy receiving something from our collection! We just put out a super cool shirt for our 10 year anniversary, and some themed to our 2023 musical, Into the Woods Jr.
